Yvonne Spencer serves as Water and Sewer Commissioner on the
Du Quoin City Council.
During the day, Yvonne works as Director of Deferred Gifts
and Planned Giving for the Southern Illinois University Foundation.
In her capacity as Director, she is responsible for developing
and promoting bequests, charitable trusts and real estate gifts
for the benefit of all areas of the university. Yvonne also
serves as a member of the Chancellor's Advisory Review Board.
A 1976 graduate of Du Quoin High School, Yvonne received her
Bachelor of Sciences degree, with Honors, in biological sciences
in 1980 from SIU. After teaching Biology at Du Quoin High School
for nine years, Yvonne attended Southern Illinois University
School of Law and received her Juris Doctor degree Summa cum
Laude in 1996. She practiced law for three years with Feirich/Mager/Green/Ryan
in Carbondale, IL where her practice focused on health care
law, estate planning and business law. Yvonne is licensed to
practice law in Illinois and Missouri.
Yvonne is a member of the First United Methodist Church where
she serves as Chair of the Church Council and as a member of
Strands of Hope. She is also a member of the Du Quoin Rotary
Club, the St. Louis Planned Giving Council, and the Council
for the Advancement and Support of Education. Yvonne and her
husband, Craig, reside on Main Street.
