Kathy West is serving her third term as Street Commissioner for the City of Du Quoin. She works with Street Superintendent, Doug Hill, to maintain streets, sidewalks, alleys, and drainage. Kathy was a member of the Du Quoin Sesquicentennial Committee.

She began teaching Social Studies at Du Quoin High School in 1975. Kathy enjoyed teaching and sponsoring the National Honor Society and Y.M.C.A. Youth & Government programs. She retired from teaching in 2007. She participates as a member of the Marshall Browning Hospital Board of Directors, 708 Mental Health Board, and the Du Quoin Service League. Kathy and her husband, Royce Jackson, reside at 618 Warder Court.

Kathy graduated in 1970 from Sesser-Valier High School and then in 1972 she went on to earn an Associate Arts Degree from Rend Lake Junior College. She furthered her higher education by achieving a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1974, and with an eventual Masters degree from Union College.
